Things I want to do within the next year..

I'm making a list of things I want to do by now and next fall. I feel that if I make a list, I won't let time pass me by. Plus, if anyone ever asks me what is there to do, I will be able to refer to this list (which I hope to update with more things I think of, and cross out things I did!)

1. Go to a haunted house or pumpkin patch. I'll take either.. Halloween is almost here after all!

2. Make a ham for John and I. Also, make my mom's potato salad.

3. Make a turkey in the early part of November. Just so I know that I can.

4. Go to a christmas show like A Musical Christmas Carol or the Nutcracker. I have never been to one!

5. Go ice skating. Hopefully with someone.

6. Have Dorothy, Denise, Patti and John K over and play Apples to Apples.

7. Go to see Grease on Broadway, the dates are Tues March 9-Sun March 14 2010.

8. Possibly see CATS and the Wizard of Oz on Broadway too.

9. Go to the beach. I'm not sure if this will happen, but I would love for it to.

10. Join the gym that 1/2 block from my house!

11. Lose 30lbs. This should be my main goal.

12. Go bowling. It doesn't seem like much, but I never get to go!

13.

My card don't swipe

Lately, since a customer pointed it out to me, I have been noticing this much more often. What is it about a Coach purse or anything Coach for that matter that makes a woman think having that on her arm makes her look better? What really kills me is you see a woman wearing sweat pants, tennis shoes, hoodie, hair in a yucky bun with her roots showing and on her arm is a coach purse. Also, those things aren't cheap. Recently when it was time to pay for her groceries, a woman very softly told me she was using her EBT card and held it down near the counter facing me. Obviously she didn't want the person she knew in line behind her to know that's how she was paying. That's when I noticed her wallet, it was a Coach wallet. Then I noticed her purse was Coach also. Then as she strolled her cart down to the end of the counter and noticed she had a Baby Phat jacket. Now, I'm not jealous of her; I do not want those things. What bothers me is for much her articles of clothing cost, she should not be on food stamps. There is no need. Look outside and she's probably getting into an SUV. I suppose the main source of this anger is that I work a lot and I still don't have any money. I just think too many people milk the system.

When I was 17

.. I was making the most of what I had
.. I was so infatuated with John yet he kept me running around
.. I slept through most of my classes (that would carry on into college.. terrible thing)
.. I still had bangs
.. I loved going to work at Kuhn's. Why? John was there. I was also meeting great friends there so I loved going to work
.. I was going to concerts every few months (one of my favorite things to do!)
.. I had a good social life
.. I would go all night bowling then go to work at 8 in the morning
.. My aunt would come and get me after work some Saturdays and we would go out shopping and such
.. I was living with my aunt and having rough times with my uncle but I still wish I lived there
.. I was pretty emo (I still am somewhat to this day, just not as bad)
.. I had just come off the run I had with spraying my hair colors and going to school like that
.. I had discovered livejournal not too long ago and thought, I love re-doing my page, I want to be a web designer.
.. I started at the Art Institute (big mistake) which I graduated from 3 years later with an associate's degree in Interactive Media Design and obtained a whole lot of debt.
..life was good and I wouldn't have changed anything

Nothing special about tonight

This is night is going to be incredibly long because there's nothing really to do that I can think of. At least if I get through tonight tomorrow is Friday and I'm going to dinner tomorrow :). I really want a job where I make a lot of money, because I just want to be able to have money and pay things off faster.

I forgot my new book at home I wanted to bring in because I don't want to read The Five People You Meet in Heaven anymore. I've gotten to the middle and I just can't read on anymore because I think it is boring.

I'm really kind of glad I got a little more cable, channels 24-99 (not because I wanted to, but because if I didn't have at least the digital starter package, Comcast was changing it so that I wouldn't be able to get OnDemand anymore. If not me watching it 4 times a week, John watches things onDemand like everyday) but I'm not happy my cable bill will go up 40 dollars. I just lowered by phone bill 10 dollars but that didn't help much!

I just talked to Cassy not too long ago about how her wisdom teeth removal went today. Surprisingly to me she was up and we talked for about 20 minutes. It was kind of hard to understand some of what she was saying because she has a wad of gauze in her mouth, but I caught most of it, I think. She said she's just happy it's done and over with. I can't wait until I can say the same! My surgery seems like it's going to be gone about differently though. She took some medication the morning of the surgery and they had an anestethiologist (sp?) there which my dentist won't I don't think. They put her into a "twilight sleep" which is also something I don't think I will have. According to my dentist, I'm supposed to take some of my prescription the night before (Aug 6) my surgery and then some the morning of. My appointment is at 11:30. My dentist is going to sedate me and I'm told I will be asleep, but awake enough to know if I'm being asked to move my head or something. I don't understand all that here and not here stuff. At least my wisdom teeth aren't causing me any pain, I'm just having them out because they will eventually push all my other teeth up, so he says.

Well, like I said it's going to be a long night and I wish people still posted in here.

Stupid Stupid

Here's a little peeve of mine. When people tell you they're going to do something with you, and they don't! Can't we all relate to this one? Just this afternoon I was supposed to make a trip to the mall with a friend, and of course that was blown off by "Do you want to go five hours later, my cousin is coming over now". Umm, no thank you, I won't go at all. After I sat there for 3 hours already. I'll save my money.

So there. What a wasted day! I hate that and would much rather prefer doing something than sitting at home. I'll just watch Judge Judy now I suppose.. or look for a real job! I need one of those like I a baby needs its bottle! What I'm really hoping is to be cast on the next season of Big Brother, rule that house and leave with half a million dollars. A few people I know would get a new car and some money, and most of all my aunt would be able to live comfortably. My school will be paid off, and then I will go to school again for something else. I love learning.

Don't you love my huge dreams?

I'm watching Clerks 2 now and I just for some reason thought of my livejournal. I still love my layout and wonder if people really ever use this site anymore. I remember when one of my friends on here said they are leaving livejournal and going to myspace. Guess I did the same thing, just like a lot of people.

I am currently full. I just had dinner at Cassy's. What a wonderful dinner and I didn't feel uncomfortable not once. Cool group of people. I loved the potato casserole. If I wasn't so full now I feel like I might shove John's share in my face too. Typical me!

Ok well I have to go watch this movie cause it's way too funny and you know it.

Jennifer Heilman
Section B
Physics final Project
Even 350 years after his death, Galileo Galilei was still very much in the news and still very much mentioned. During the year of 1992, where he lived when he was alive, the entire year had revolved around him. Seminars went over his life as exhibitions celebrated his life. Physicists prepared to drop balls from the tower of Pisa, where he was born and went to school and first became a teacher Galileo supposedly done in 1589.
Physics of this day and age owe its beginnings to Galileo who was the first astronomer to use a telescope. His contributions include discovering four satellites of the planet Jupiter. He also gave visual evidence that supported the Copernican theory and in return helped disprove much of the medieval thinking in science.
Galileo Galilei lived from 1564-1642 and was born in Pisa, Italy. He is generally only known by this first name. His family was not rich but they belonged to the nobility. Galileo has six brothers and sisters. He ended up with a career in science, but originally his father sent him to study medicine at the local university in Pisa.
One of Galileo’s most astonishing accomplishments is being the person that gave society the first reliable means to keep time by discovering the law of the pendulum. He did this by watching a chandelier swing in a cathedral in Pisa. He timed the pendulum by using his pulse and finding that whenever it swung in a narrow or wide arc, it always took the same amount of time to complete an oscillation.
His father wanted him to study medicine and hoped his oldest son would become a doctor. Galileo, on the other hand, had a much stronger fascination in mathematics and, eventually lost all interest in medicine. A lecture on geometry flickered his interest in mathematics and soon his father agreed to let him switch his areas of study.
Within time, what Galileo liked and didn’t like was evident. According to a popular story, he dropped weights from the leaning tower or Pisa to prove what he viewed on falling bodies. Aristotle demanded Galileo believe that larger pellets fall faster than smaller pellets because under the “Aristotelian system,” larger, heavier objects are supposed to accelerate more quickly than smaller, lighter ones.
In 1592 Galileo was offered a professorship in mathematics from the University of Padua. After hearing of the newly invented telescope from Holland of Hans Lippershey’s he built his own version of the telescope. He developed magnifying power of the instrument until January 7, 1610 when then he had saw the four satellites of Jupiter. He also saw the mountains and the craters on the moon and found out the Milky Way was a dense collection of stars.
Galileo had always has an interest in mechanical devices so during his visits to the Arsenal, he presented the problem involving the placement of oars in galleys. He treated the oar as a lever and made the water the fulcrum. He patented a model for a pump a year later. His pump was a device that raised water by only using one horse.
The happiest time of Galileo’s life was at thirty five. At that age, he had become a man of means. He had moved into an expansive three story house that could accommodate a staff of servers, his workshop, a score of boarders, a family, as well as a large suite of rooms on the first floor with the majority of the house to himself. His large walled garden behind the house gave him the most pleasure where he attended to his vines and flowers and walkways. His garden was a place of gathering, music and poetry, of philosophy and laughter, which especially took place in the summer.
As far as Galileo’s family life, he was never married. Although, he did have a short relationship with a woman named Marina Gamba, of whom he met on one of his many trips to Venice. Together, Marina and Galileo had three children while she lived in Galileo’s house in Padua. His two daughters, Livia and Virginia, were put into convents where they became Sister Maria Celeste and Sister Arc Angela. In 1610, Galileo moved to Florence from Padua where he took a position at the court of Medici family. He left his son, Vincenzio, with Marina Gamba back in Padua. In 1613, Vincenzio went to Florence to join his father when Marina married a man Giovanni Bartoluzzi.
Other than the pump, Galileo invented many other mechanical devices, such as the hydrostatic balance. His most famous invention was the telescope where he made his first one in 1609. He created a telescope later that could magnify objects up to twenty times. With the telescope, he was able to look at the moon, discover the four satellites of Jupiter, observe a Supernova, verify the phases of Venus, and discovers sunspots. What he found proved the Copernican system which states that the earth and other planets revolve around the sun. Galileo’s observations with his new telescope convinced him of the truth of Copernican’s sun-centered or heliocentric theory. Prior to the Copernican system, it was thought the universe was geocentric, meaning the sun revolved around earth.
Galileo’s belief in the Copernican system eventually got him into trouble with the Roman Catholic Church. The Inquisition was a permanent institution in the Catholic that was charged with the eradication or heresies. In 1633 the Inquisition convicted him of heresy and forced Galileo to publicly withdraw his support of Copernicus. The reason for this was because a committee of consultants declared to the Inquisition that the Copernican proposition that the Sun is the center of the Universe was a heresy. Being that Galileo was a supporter of the Copernican system, he was warned that he should not defend or discuss to others the theories. Although, in 1624, Galileo was assured by Pope Urban VIII that he could write about the Copernican theory as long as he treated it as a mathematical subject.
Upon the completion of his book, Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, Galileo was called to Rome in 1633 to face the Inquisition once again. He was found guilty or heresy for his dialogue, they sentenced him to life imprisonment but because of his advanced age, allowed him to serve his term under house arrest in his villa outside of Florence, Italy. In 1638, the Inquisition approved his move to Florence to his home so that he could be closer to his doctors. By that time, Galileo was legally blind.
Galileo’s originality as an astronomer and physicist lay in his method of inquiry. First he reduced problems to a simple set of terms on the basis of everyday experiences and common-sense logic. Then, using simple mathematical descriptions he analyzed and resolved them. The success that came when he applied this technique to the thoughts of motion made a way for modern mathematical and experimental physics. Isaac Newton even used one of Galileo’s mathematical descriptions “The Law of Inertia,” as the building blocks for his “First Law of Motion.” Galileo died the year of Newton’s birth.

July 18th is Mal's birthday and we were all gonna to Kennywood..so it would be a great time and all, but guess what the 18th is. A Monday. Fucking A! I have class Mondays and Wednesdays next quarter. Nice huh, the damn sacrifices I gotta make... just kidding. Such a good mood now..its awesome.

On Friday when Jocelyn and Nicole go to the Eminem concert in Ohio...I might get to watch Shady overnight..yay!! Only thing is I work at 9:30 on Saturday so I don't know what's gonna happen then... Friday I'm also supposed to walk to West View with JJ..long time no walk haha. Pancake's coming over tomorrow after I get done working. Supposed to go over Colleen's house Saturday night..that should be nice.

Ok well I'm going to watch Blind Date now then go to sleep.

So maybe I feel like updating. Yeah, I'm still around, in kind of a terrible mood but I want to tell you about the Green Day show before I forget. I probably won't ever forget the show..but the small details that I wanna remember now might be forgotten later. The show on Saturday was great. "I'll never go to a better concert", said by Joe, & I agree with him. Billie Joe could stand onstage with his arms extended & the crowd would go crazy. They entered as they were inducting an orchestra & just many things that they did onstage were things I'd never seen before or expected them to do. I am now a bigger fan of Green Day, & a new a found fan of My Chemical Romance who opened for them. They are great live too..with their "high stepping" & the comment about "flashing to get backstage".

Billie Joe had as much energy as the very end of the show as he did when he was singing the first song, that was awesome. I loved it. Enough said, maybe I'll add more later.

Hi, I'm still alive.

I'd have to say I'm rather satisfied with the way life's been going. Nothing great has happened, but then again nothing terrible did. So that's good. I can't concentrate on stuff I really need to get done, but I think I'll be ok. For example I really have to write & email this paper to my teacher by midnight tomorrow (Thursday) but I haven't really started it yet & don't know where to the time is to do that. Not to worry though, somehow I'll make it happen.

& I'm just really hungry now, I'm going to go home & have a baked potato. When the teacher calls my name & evaluates my stuff I can get out of here. Of course, he went in reverse order..so from Z to A, and of course there's like 9587312 people with last names I to Z.
..
Ok, it was my turn & I got called up. 96 on the second half on the final. Way to go!! Next week we turn in the whole thing. Believe me, the first half was not as good.

& I'm out.

I killed my overrides. I don't know what happened to them. I went to visit my journal this morning after my first class & my journal was just a page of hot pink, no text, no nothing. Maybe I'll get some new ones soon, right now I haven't the time or the patience to fuck with them.

And how can your typography class make you do a project in Dreamweaver if you've never even opened the program before? I hate being just thrown into a program with no idea what it can do, or how it works. He went over it very briefly, but not enough for me to catch on. I hate that, I don't think I'm gonna do it cause I'm too lost.

I need to buy a memory card for my camera but I think they cost too much. I keep deleting old pictures off the internal memory but eventually if I want to take them to like CVS and get prints, won't I need a memory to take out? I don't know!

What can I say..this whole weekend is going to be spent at the cave :(

Next Saturday is the candle part-ay & bowling hopefully. Then in 2 Saturday's is the Golden Corral for Dorothy/Denise's birthday (yea hopefully that goes through)

2 & a half weeks til school break! Yeah, next quarter's schedule kinda sucks but not really..I'll have Mondays to do stuff & always Friday night but I'm trying to get into Math101 Friday afternoon so I don't forget anything.

Anyone want to go to the Ashlee Simpson concert with me? I read in the City Paper that she was coming to the Benedum Center on the 25th of this month.

I don't know what it is, but whatever it is, it'd better go away soon. I hate when I get like this & there's almost nothing to do about it besides wait it out.
Blink 182 is what!

"For over a decade, Blink-182 has toured, recorded and done non-stop promotion all while trying to balance relationships with family and friends.

To that end, the band has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with their loved ones. While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."

They were good in concert.

I hate writing stuff like that.

I'm only on lottery one day next week & I get to ring on Sunday. It's super weird. I did really bad on the last one, but that's because I didn't read the chapter. Why buy the book if you're not going to read it? That's what I always seem to do.

I'm pretty sure I work 8-4 on Sunday, and I'm happy about that because I'd really rather not work during the Super Bowl because chances are it might be very dead, even though the Steelers didn't make it.
